The Director is a creative and dynamic leader charged with developing and implementing all Pupil Personnel Services (PPS). With an understanding that specific services are often needed for students to benefit from our instructional program, the Director coordinates a talented staff to deliver those services to all children in the district. Those services include nursing, counseling, , special education, and all related services.Supervises:CPSE/CSE ChairpersonDirector of Special Education Occupational Therapists, COTAs, Cooperative supervision of School Psychologists, Special Education Teachers, and Speech TherapistsKEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Works closely with building principals to supervise all PPS staff and assure effective andbalanced Pupil Personnel Services in each school. These efforts include oversight of the Committee on Special Education and District Alternative Programs. Establishes and implements all district procedures in compliance with laws andregulations relating to IDEA and OCR/Section 504, and oversees all programs, services,and curriculum for students classified under IDEA and Section 504 Manages the Response to Intervention Plan with principals in each building Coordinates school medical services with School Nurses and the District Medical OfficerNote: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is notmeant to be all-inclusive of every task or responsibility.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Holds a comprehensive knowledge of the laws, regulations, and research relatedto all aspects of Pupil Personnel Services Constantly demonstrates and models high moral, ethical and professionalstandards and operates with consistent personal integrity Has expertise in the supervision and evaluation of faculty and staff to promoteprofessional growth and ensure high standards of professional accountability Is able to represent the schools and the District in a professional manner througheach interaction with parents, community, staff, and students.REQUIREMENTS:New York State SDA/SDL Certification ValidationMinimum of five (5) years of special education experienceRequired Master's Degree and Preferred Administrative Experience
