The Wappingers Central School District is seeking candidates for TWO (2) anticipated full-time secondary assistant principal vacancies with an anticipated start date of on or about September 1, 2023. General responsibilities of this position include assisting the school principal in leadership, coordination, supervision and management of the school programs and operation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. 1. Administers a program of student discipline.2. Assists with staff evaluations.3. Manages building staff, including class schedules and building problems. 4. Supervises staff attendance and assignment of substitute teachers and substitute payroll.5. Duty schedule assignments in coordination with the master schedule.6. Staff development.7. Provides general supervision to students. 8. Supervises extra curricular and intramural activities. 9. Supervises the daily transportation and cafeteria responsibilities of the building including late runs.10. Supervises student attendance, including coordination of home teaching.11. Supervises the organization and development of a student activity program.12. Serves on district level committees.13. Assists the Principal and the Coordinators in the administration of the total instructional program.14. Handle grade-level academic appeals and serve as grade-level 504 Chair15. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Principal. Job QualificationsThe successful candidate for this tenure-track position will possess the following qualifications:Solid understanding of the emotional and social development of adolescentsStrong interpersonal skills with students, parents and staffDemonstrated excellence in the areas of listening, writing and oral communicationWillingness to be visible in and a part of the school community and eventsAbility to collaborate with the faculty and administrative teamProven leadership in curriculum and instructionEnhanced knowledge of highly effective teaching practicesKnowledge of special education, the CSE process and Section 504Competence in the use of instructional technology and the ability to use data to inform instructionSecondary teaching experienceExperience in Master Scheduling preferredValid NYS School Building Leader certification
