The WCSD is seeing candidates for a full time, tenure track administrative position with an effective start date no later than July 1, 2023. Applicants must hold valid NYS School District Leader, School District Administrator or School Administrator/Supervisor certification AND three (3) years of successful coaching experience required. A description of the position's essential duties and responsibilities will include:1. Provides the District Office, Building Administration, Transportation, and Facilities and Operations a completed schedule for each sport conducted during each season at least three weeks prior to the commencement of each season.2. Confirms with officials their assignments on a daily basis during each season.3. Shares with the Director the supervision of staff within the departments through observation, evaluation, and conference; holds group, building, seasonal and department meetings regarding policies, methodology, curriculum, and other pertinent matters affecting the progress of pupils and athletes; prepares or supervises the production of local instructional materials.4. Makes decisions regarding cancellations and postponements during the season, provides adequate notification of same to all concerned, and reschedules same.5. Coordinates use of facilities for practices and contests, during the season, for all teams, intramurals, and outside groups using the facilities.6. Shares in the collections of end of season reports, budget requests, rosters, etc., from coaches.7. Serves as a resource person to coaching staff regarding state and local regulations and procedures, coach/player relationships, coach/parent relationships, etc.8. Provides publicity to the student body regarding when physical exams will be given prior to each season.9. Assists the Director in monitoring the student health database, i.e. FamilyID.10. Responsible for working in collaboration with the Director of Special Education to ensure the timely approval of physical exams for student athletes.11. Provides written evaluation of coaches at the end of every season.12. Represents the District at League and Sectional meetings and provides information from these meetings for the Building Administrators and coaching staffs.13. Advises Building and District level Administration of any problems involved with Interscholastic Athletics.14. Makes weekly/daily check-offs with Transportation, Grounds and Custodial Departments, and the District Athletic Office regarding the athletic schedule.15. Shares in the construction of the annual department budget and initiates purchase orders for all materials used by the department; ascertains that material is received in good order, properly stored, distributed, and used.16. Receives uniforms/supplies from vendors and forwards them to appropriate coaches.17. Assists coaches with end of season tasks such as inventory, storage, etc.18. Available in a supervisory capacity for athletic contests as assigned by the Director.19. Assists the Director in the supervision and assignment of chaperones at athletic events to ensure adequate supervision of athletes and spectators.20. Interviews candidates for department positions, consults with school principals as to the suitability of each candidate, and recommends the hiring of candidates to the District Director.21. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Physical Education and Athletics.If selected for interview, candidate will be required to provide additional documents to complete candidate package, including four current letters of recommendation meeting WCSD criteria: written within past 18 months; must bear the writers' signatures (computer fonted signatures or unsigned letters not accepted); and, any letters provided from current WCSD employees will be included but will not count towards the required four letters.
