The Valley Stream CHSD, a beautifully diverse school community, is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Math Department Chairperson (7-12). The success candidate must possess valid NYS teaching and administrative certification. Department Chairs teach two classes per day. Responsibilities: Work with the Principal and Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction to elevate instructional delivery, student achievement, and professional development at the departmental and classroom levels. Demonstrate leadership in advancing the integration of technology. Develop and implement an ongoing program of curriculum evaluation. Serve as the primary curriculum and instructional resource for staff. Conduct formal and informal classroom observations, evaluations, and follow-up. Complete written observations and evaluations. Conducts regular department meetings. Conduct student achievement data analysis and completes required reports. Assist administration in establishing a plan to set success targets on assessments, monitor student performance and provide intervention programs. Prepare department budget; inventories and distributes instructional materials. Attend relevant school, district, and professional meetings. Contribute to the organization and revision of curriculum area in course offerings. Coordinate the administration and committee meetings for grading state assessments. Other duties as assigned by district administration. Qualifications: Valid NYS School Building Leader (SBL) Certification. NYS Certification in Mathematics. Extensive knowledge of lesson planning, design, and implementation. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff and administration. Demonstrated analytic and problem-solving skills. Comprehensive knowledge of NYS Learning Standards.
