The Valley Stream CHSD, a beautifully diverse school community, is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Social Studies Teacher - Leave Replacement. The successful candidate must possess valid NYS certification. Additional responsibilities/qualifications include:Design lessons and materials that address the NYS CRSE Framework while supporting and challenging students in a rigorous academic environment.Prepare home assignments and assessment materials, evaluate exam results, and implement innovative methods of teaching based on students’ learning styles.Develop students’ skills in alignment with district standards and goals in meeting NYS 7-12 Social Studies Learning Standards.Administer required Social Studies assessments throughout the year.Demonstrate the ability to support a diverse community of learners, including English Language Learners and students with disabilities. Develop and research interactive, relevant, and meaningful learning materials for Social Studies students.Maintain a positive learning environment that encourages active participation of students.Work collaboratively with colleagues, school leadership, and families to develop strategies for addressing identified needs and improving student outcomes.Stay current with educational research, trends, and best practices in content area.Utilize various instructional strategies that actively involve students in the learning process. Maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, faculty, and administration.Develop high quality relationships with students.Maintain student confidentiality and monitor student records/files.
