Virginia Road Elementary School in the Valhalla UFSD is seeking a certified Special Education Teacher for a full-time probationary position in a second grade co-taught setting. The successful candidate will have a strong background in early literacy and special education and will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to support students with diverse learning needs. Qualifications New York State Certification in Special Education Orton-Gillingham training (preferred) Experience working with elementary aged students, preferably in grades K–2, in co-taught or inclusive classroom settings Strong background in literacy instruction Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring Experience with small group instruction and targeted interventions Familiarity with structured literacy programs (Fundations, Heggerty, HMH Into Reading, Wilson, PAF, Orton-Gillingham or similar) Knowledge of MTSS frameworks Strong collaboration and communication skills Ability to use data to inform instruction Responsibilities Include: Provide direct special education services in individual and small group settings Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices Develop and implement IEP goals Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly Participate in team meetings and contribute to instructional planning
