Virginia Road Elementary School in the Valhalla UFSD is seeking a certified Special Education Teacher for a full-time probationary position in a K–2 setting. The successful candidate will have a strong background in early literacy and special education and will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to support students with diverse learning needs.QualificationsNew York State Certification in Special EducationOrton-Gillingham training (preferred)Experience working with elementary aged students, preferably in grades K–2, in co-taught or inclusive classroom settingsStrong background in literacy instructionKnowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoringExperience with small group instruction and targeted interventionsFamiliarity with structured literacy programs (Fundations, Heggerty, HMH Into Reading, Wilson, PAF, or similar)Knowledge of MTSS frameworksStrong collaboration and communication skillsAbility to use data to inform instruction Responsibilities Include:Provide direct special education services in individual and small group settingsCollaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practicesDevelop and implement IEP goalsMonitor student progress and adjust instruction accordinglyParticipate in team meetings and contribute to instructional planning
