The Valley Central School District is seeking a knowledgeable, collaborative, and energetic Math Instructional Coach to support teachers in strengthening instructional practices. This is a non-evaluative role focused on building teacher capacity and improving student outcomes through job-embedded professional development and data-driven planning. The coach serves as a “thought partner,” working alongside teachers to identify goals, refine instructional practices, and monitor impact. Reports to: Building Principal & Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Qualifications: Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Elementary Education Demonstrated expertise in mathematics instruction and pedagogy Deep knowledge of NYS Mathematics Learning Standards and NCTM Mathematical Practices Strong organizational, communication, and facilitation skills Proficiency with and regular use of the Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Calendar) Desired Experience: Advanced degree in education, curriculum and instruction, or a mathematics-related field Experience as an instructional coach, mentor teacher, or teacher leader Training in research-based coaching models (e.g., Jim Knight’s Partnership Principles, GROW Model) and adult learning theory Experience with data analysis and progress monitoring, and statistical literacy Familiarity with MTSS/RTI frameworks, with an emphasis on strengthening Tier 1 core instruction Duties & Responsibilities: Facilitate individual and small-group coaching cycles (every 4–6 weeks) that include goal setting, observation, modeling, co-teaching, and reflective practice Provide direct, job-embedded support through modeling lessons, co-planning, and timely, actionable feedback Collaborate with teachers to analyze student data (screeners, progress monitoring, and common formative assessments) to inform instruction and intervention Design and facilitate ongoing professional learning for grade-level teams aligned to district priorities and responsive to student needs Support the implementation, refinement, and sustainability of the Valley Central mathematics curriculum Build and maintain trust-based, confidential relationships that promote reflective practice and continuous improvement Participate in building- and district-level teams, contributing to instructional coherence and advocating for building-level needs Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Building Principal or Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in support of district and building-level goals How to Apply: To apply for this position, complete the online application and upload your resume at the On-line Application System for Educators (OLAS District Details | OLAS Jobs ).
