The Valley Central School District is seeking candidates for a CSE Chairperson (Teacher on Special Assignment) position. This is a full-time 10-month position. Valid NYS Certification (Special Education, Students with Disabilities, Speech and Language Disabilities, or School Psychologist) is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : • Prior experience leading and participating in CSE/CPSE meetings • Thorough knowledge of CSE guidelines and regulations as related to Special Education services • Strong understanding of psychological and educational testing and evaluations • Ability to work and problem solve effectively with a variety of people • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written, and digital) DUTIES: • Conduct initial eligibility, transfer, program review, annual review, manifestation determination, and reevaluation meetings • Review students’ state and local assessment data, evaluations, and standardized testing to support eligibility determinations and educational planning • Develop, review, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations • Develop Prior Written Notices (PWNs), meeting summaries, and other required special education documentation • Support implementation of special education procedures, timelines, and compliance requirements in alignment with NYSED regulations and district practices • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, related service providers, and families to support student programming and educational access • Provide guidance and support to staff regarding special education processes, accommodations, modifications, behavioral supports, and service delivery recommendations • Maintain accurate records and oversee compliance related to referrals, evaluations, annual reviews, reevaluations, and mandated reporting requirements • Assist with coordination of district special education initiatives, program development, and department procedures • Other special education related tasks as assigned by the Director of Special Education
