Position: AIS Math Teacher-Elementary Role Description : The Valley Central School District is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Academic Intervention Services (AIS) Teacher to provide targeted, evidence-based instructional interventions to support elementary students who are at risk of not meeting New York State learning standards in mathematics. The AIS Math Teacher will utilize research-based instructional practices to remediate gaps in number sense, computation, problem solving, and mathematical reasoning, primarily through push-in services within general education classrooms and pull-out services as needed. The AIS Teacher will work closely with classroom teachers, administrators, and support staff to design and implement effective interventions that promote student growth and achievement. Reports to : Building Principal & Director of Data Accountability & Instructional Services Qualifications : Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Elementary Education (Birth–Grade 6) Strong understanding of New York State learning standards and AIS requirements Experience with differentiated instruction and intervention strategies Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in a team-oriented environment Strong organizational and communication skills Desired Experience : Experience providing AIS or MTSS/RTI support in an elementary setting Familiarity with progress monitoring tools and data analysis Training in evidence-based mathematics intervention programs Dual certification in Special Education (preferred but not required) Duties & Responsibilities : Provide a combination of push-in and pull-out academic support in elementary classrooms, focusing on mathematics. Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan, deliver, and differentiate instruction based on student needs. Use data to identify students eligible for AIS and to develop targeted intervention strategies. Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Support the implementation of the Valley Central MTSS (Multi-tiered System of Supports) framework. Maintain accurate records of student performance, interventions, and progress monitoring using district identified systems. Participate in team meetings, including grade-level, data, and student support meetings. Communicate regularly and effectively with teachers, administrators, and families regarding student entry and discontinuation from services, and provide ongoing updates of student progress. Assist in preparing students for New York State assessments. Serve as a resource for teachers to support mathematics instruction and the development of conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills.
