Principal – High School The Valley Central School District is seeking an innovative, visionary, and student-centered High School Principal to lead our diverse and dynamic high school community. The successful candidate will be an innovative, collaborative leader with a strong instructional background, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and academic excellence. This individual will be an expert of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, inclusive of technology integration, co- teaching strategies and differentiation to meet individual student needs. This individual will be an exceptional manager, motivating leader, and a strong relationship builder, who has demonstrated exceptional outcomes in a similarly mission-aligned school setting. We are looking for a leader that believes in equity and has the capacity to lead students, adults, and teams to audacious outcomes that foster a love of learning in our students. The leader should have a keen instructional and school culture eye, and a toolbox to manage change, gain trust and work collaboratively with the district’s leadership team's vision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Instructional Leadership Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a rigorous and relevant curriculum aligned with New York State Learning Standards Use data-driven decision making to improve teaching and learning outcomes Promote effective instructional practices and provide meaningful feedback to teachers Foster a culture of high expectations, student achievement, leadership, and continuous school improvement School Operations Oversee daily school operations, including master scheduling, staff supervision, safety procedures, and student discipline Develop and manage school budgets in coordination with the district’s business office Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies Coordinate building maintenance and capital improvement efforts as needed Personnel and Staff Development Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate instructional and non-instructional staff Support professional development aligned with school and district goals Build a collaborative and respectful school culture among faculty, staff, students, and families Implement teacher observation and evaluation systems consistent with APPR guidelines Student Support and School Climate Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment Collaborate with student support services (counselors, social workers, psychologists) to address academic and social-emotional needs Lead initiatives around diversity, equity, and inclusion Enforce the student code of conduct fairly and consistently Family and Community Engagement Establish strong communication channels with families and the wider school community Foster partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and higher education institutions Represent the school at board meetings, community events, and public functions Other duties as determined by the Superintendent Qualifications Valid New York State School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Administrator (SDA) certification Master’s degree in Education or related field Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience, and 3 years of building administrative experience (high school level preferred) Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, instructional leadership, and school operations Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills Commitment to culturally responsive sustaining education, excellence, and student-centered leadership Previous candidates who have been interviewed for this position should not apply again.
