504 Committee ChairpersonThis is a full time,10 Mo., probationary position in the Valley Central School District as a Teacher on Special Assignment as the district 504 Committee Chairperson. Open until filled. To begin 9/1/2025. Summer hours may be required.Job duties include:Serve as the district’s or building-level point person for all 504-related processes and compliance.Chair and facilitate 504 meetings, including initial eligibility determinations, annual reviews, and re-evaluations.Review Students' needs and documentation to determine eligibility for a 504 planCollaborate with school teams, families, and service providers to develop and implement appropriate 504 Plans.Ensure adherence to federal and New York State regulations related to Section 504 and student accommodations.Maintain and monitor accurate records and documentation for all 504 students.Provide training and support to staff on 504 procedures, legal compliance, and implementation of accommodations.Coordinate with nurses, counselors, psychologists, teachers, and administrators to ensure plans are implemented with fidelity.Oversee the scheduling and distribution of the 504 plansWork with the building administrative team to determine reasonable building wide interventionsRespond to parent inquiries and concerns regarding 504 eligibility and accommodations.Conduct classroom observations of students if neededCertification Required: NYSED educator certificationRequired:Strong knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).Minimum 3 years of experience in a related role (teacher, school counselor, administrator, etc.).Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Preferred:Experience facilitating meetings and leading multidisciplinary teams.Familiarity with New York State education law and regulations regarding student services.Background in special education or student support services.Applications will be collected until the position is filled.
