ANTICIPATED VACANCY ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT FOR BUSINESS (Probationary) 12 Month Position Start Date: July 1, 2026 QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of five years of successful experience in education, including supervision and administration A valid NYS Certificate as School District Business Leader (SDBL) or School District Leadership (SDL) Strong communication, problem solving and human relations skills Administrative experience in the areas of school business/finance and supervision of support services including transportation, facilities and food service Experience in using technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness of financial and support services JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Serve as a key member of the Superintendent’s leadership team, providing guidance and recommendations on all matters related to the district’s financial and operational functions Prepare and present budget reports, financial updates, and related materials to the Board of Education, and attend all Board meetings as required Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of the district budget, including both short term and long-range financial planning aligned to district priorities Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, auditing, investments, borrowing, and required state and federal reporting Ensure timely and accurate submission of all required reports, including for the Board and to NYSED and other regulatory agencies Provide oversight and management of grant funding, including monitoring allocations, ensuring compliance, and aligning expenditures to program goals Direct and monitor risk management, insurance coverage, safety protocols, and environmental compliance to ensure a safe and fiscally responsible operation Analyze operational systems and services to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost management across areas such as facilities, transportation, food services, and technology Provide oversight and guidance on legal and regulatory matters related to business operations, including claims, contracts, and compliance requirements Support the negotiation and administration of collective bargaining agreements and vendor contracts Supervise and ensure the effective operation of purchasing, payroll, and related business office functions Collaborate with architects, construction managers, and contractors in conjunction with the Director of Facilities in the planning and execution of capital projects and long-term facilities improvements Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent in support of district operations and organizational effectiveness Salary Commensurate with Experience Qualified candidates can submit their resume and letter of interest to: www.olasjobs.org Address Letter on OLAS to: Dr. Unal Karakas, Superintendent of Schools Applications should be submitted no later than April 15, 2026 Valley Stream UFSD 24 welcomes and is committed to diversity with regard to race, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, neuro diversity, and disability.
