Minimum Qualifications:NYS permanent teaching certificate, Math 7-12 and SDL or SDA CertificationMaster’s Degree3-5 years of effective teaching experience in mathematicsPreferred: Previous instructional supervision and leadership experience in a public school settingDemonstrated success working with diverse student populations Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Supervises: Mathematics Teachers in grades 6-12 and Business & Tech teachers 6-12 Position Summary:The Director of Math will provide leadership in the development and implementation of math curriculum, professional development and assessmentsResponsible for ensuring alignment and articulation of district curriculum and assessments to the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards and mathematical practices Conduct observations and coaching for math teachers in grades 6-12. Conduct observations and coaching for Business and Technology teachers in grades 6-12.In collaboration with the Director of Data, Assessment and Accountability, analyzes student achievement data and works to eliminate student achievement gaps and ensures that all students, including students with disabilities and English language learners are achieving at high levelsServes as the chairperson of the hiring and textbook selection committees for MathAssists the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction and other curriculum directors in designing and implementing professional development for the district’s staffAdvises principals and other school leaders on teacher assignments and student placement Please do not submit additional materials via: e-mails sent directly to School District employees; the U.S. mail; hand-delivery; or fax machine.
