The School Business Manager is a senior leader responsible for overseeing the district’s financial and operational functions, including budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and facilities. The person in this role manages the annual budget, provides financial reporting and analysis, and ensures compliance with all regulations while maintaining strong internal controls. Working closely with district leadership, the Business Manager offers strategic financial guidance, supports long-term planning, and evaluates the fiscal impact of programs and projects. The position also oversees contracts, vendor relationships, risk management, and audits to ensure transparency and accountability. Additionally, the role aligns financial practices with district goals and collaborates with stakeholders across the organization and community. This managerial/confidential position requires discretion, strong leadership, and independent decision-making. Key Responsibilities: Supervises Business Office Staff Supervises maintenance of financial accounts and various other records concerned with the business management of the school district Supervises Operations and Maintenance, School Lunch and Transportation Departments Serves as Board Appointed School Tax Collector Responsible for annual budget development and oversight Oversees business office functions Manages District insurance and investment programs Attends meetings of the Board of Education and prepares reports/presentations as requested Participate in supervision of non-instructional personnel Supervises the investment and borrowing responsibilities Serves as a key member of the Administrative Cabinet Qualifications: New York State certification as a School Business Official, or eligibility under Civil Service qualifications.
