The Ulster BOCES Career & Technical Center program is seeking a Teaching Assistant for full-time, 10-month position for the 2023-2024 school year. Experience in a trade related program is preferred. Appropriate NYS Teaching Assistant Level I, II or III certification and fingerprinting required.The Ulster BOCES Career & Technical Center offers dozens of high-tech training programs that lead to in-demand jobs in competitive fields such as information technology, healthcare, and various trade areas. Graduates leave the half-day program offered at our state-of-the-art training facility in Port Ewen ready for college and the workforce. Through a blended approach of classroom instruction, hands-on learning, and work site assignments, students build specific skills related to a career area. Our experienced instructors bring extensive job service in their respective fields and maintain close ties with business and industry to keep current with employer needs. Graduates leave the program prepared to enter the workforce, post-secondary technical schools, and colleges with firsthand knowledge of their career of choice. Upon course completion, students not only know how a task should be done, they’ve actually done it.Only candidates who currently possess appropriate NYS certification, or qualify for the Level I Teaching Assistant certificate, will be considered for this position. SPECIFIC DUTIES:Perform various duties related to tutoring, teaching and disciplining to build upon existing skills and increase present knowledge in students with disabilitiesAssist teacher(s) with lesson instruction, activity directions or curriculum implementation to an assigned student or a group of studentsModify or rephrase text, directions or classroom instructionsAssist student(s) with the use of classroom materials and equipmentAid teacher or student in the use of technology to reinforce student learningFacilitate in maintaining a positive learning environmentExpedite positive reinforcement procedures as identified in a behavior support planUsing guidance from the teacher, collect data on behaviors for behavior support plan feedbackPerform related duties as assigned, within your scope of practiceWORK SCHEDULE:10 Month ScheduleMonday through Friday8:10 a.m. to 2:05 p.m.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Possession of Appropriate NYS Teaching Assistant Level I, II or III certification.
