This candidate will also have several years of experience in Special Education as well as experience leading a comprehensive educational program for Special Education and "At-Risk" students.Ulster BOCES offers a regionally competitive salary and benefits. Appropriate NYS Certification (SBL or equivalent) and fingerprinting required.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:To assist the Principal and staff in providing student enrollment at the Center for Innovative Teaching & Learning with provision of programs and services in accordance with SED regulations.SPECIFIC DUTIES:Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate.Plans, organizes, and directs implementation of school activities.Makes recommendations concerning the programs' administration and instruction.Assists Principal with the safety and administration of the Center for Special Education.Disciplines students, offers counseling to students, and recommends student suspensions to the Principal and provides teacher support.Conducts re-entry meetings for suspended students returning to the program.Communicates with districts, teachers, and parents regarding student at the Center for Special Education in writing or by telephone.Coordinates all state and diagnostic testing - middle school, high school, and alternate assessment for students enrolled at the Center for Special Education.Supports program goals and objectives for improving student performance by assessing graduation rate, state and school performance data, and attendance rates.Serves as a liaison for students in the Career & Technical Education Center.Conducts treatment team meetings with clinical and instructional staff to improve performance of students.Participates in parent-teacher conferences.Assists Principal with the supervision and evaluation of staff.Conducts staff meetings.Supervises teaching assistants and aides.Monitors transportation issues for students.Assumes other duties assigned by the Principal.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must possess a New York State School Building Leader (SBL) certificate.Must have knowledge and experience working with students with special needs.Must have three to five years of classroom teaching experience.AGENCY OVERVIEWOur Mission: At Ulster BOCES, our mission is to provide high quality shared educational, administrative, and technical services that will enable component school districts to develop the capacity of their students and adults to achieve higher standards of performance.
