Valid School District Administrator certificate required (SDA/SDL)2. A master’s degree with NYS certification in Special Education preferred3. At least three years’ experience in administration and special education required. Reports to: Assistant Superintendents Job Goals: To develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive education program for students with special needs and develop a network of student services to assist students and parents with problems which interfere with school success Supervises: CSE/CPSE ChairsSpecial Education Teachers PsychologistsSpeech TherapistsSocial WorkersNursesOccupational TherapistsTeacher AidesJob Responsibilities:Directs special education programs for students, prekindergarten to 21 years of age, including all the CSE, CPSE and school-based study teams.Provides leadership and direction for the counseling related service personnel, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and nurses.Observes and evaluates probationary and tenured personnel in areas of responsibility.Provides representation for the school district to agencies and programs providing services to students and families.Coordinates the submission of all documents needed to substantiate state aid for special educationOversees Medicaid documentation and claims process.Oversees federal grants of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act by preparing the application, preparing the budget, and implementing the programs.Provides guidance on Social Emotional Learning to Directors of CurriculumCollaborates with other instructional leaders to provide staff development for personnel in areas of supervisory responsibility.Establishes and maintains confidential and accurate student records and data for Medicaid, New York State Education Department, and Board of Education.Develops and administers budgets in areas of supervisory responsibility.Assists with the coordination of selection, utilization, and maintenance of teaching materials and textbooks needed for areas of supervisory responsibility.Oversees the placement and provision of funds for students with special needs in all of district placements, namely BOCES and Wyoming Conference.Helps keep the Assistant Superintendents for Instruction, the Superintendent, and Board of Education informed concerning all major developments in the schools through regular reports.Provides organized and detailed program information as requested by the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents.Coordinates meetings, committees, and activities that might be necessary to produce an effective instructional program.Prepares and reviews contracts with all outside agencies for submission to the BOEComplete all other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent and/or Assistant Superintendents
