At least three years’ experience in administration and supervision is highly preferred.Reports to: Superintendent concerning AthleticsAssistant Superintendents concerning Physical EducationJob Goals: To develop and implement a quality program of physical education and recreation conducive to healthful living and to direct the program of interscholastic athletics.Supervises: Physical Education Teachers K-12 Health and FCS Teachers Interscholastic Athletic Coaches Intramural AdvisorsJob Responsibilities: Guides the ongoing development of physical education, interscholastic, and intramural programs.Provides leadership and direction to physical education teachers and interscholastic athletic coaches.Plans for the implementation, evaluation, and improvement of the physical education and interscholastic athletic programs.Maintains and revises the required state plans and record keeping for physical education.Recommends all personnel for employment in physical education and interscholastic athletics.Develops and administers budgets for physical education and interscholastic athletics.Develops and supervises a system to maintain and improve district facilities for physical education and interscholastic athletics.Observes and evaluates probationary and tenured personnelPrepares reports and presentations as required.Acts as the liaison with other school districts, athletic organizations, and booster groups.Provides frequent and effective communication with all personnel involved with interscholastic athletic functions.Hires officials, law enforcement, and supervisors as required and assumes general responsibility for the proper supervision of home games.Provides for the physical examination of all school athletes and assumes responsibility for the processing of reports and forms.Supervises the cleaning, storage, care, and inventory of all athletic equipment. Supervises the Health and FCS Departments, coordinates department meetings and budgets as appropriate.Assists the high school administrative staff with student supervision and discipline during key times such as lunch periods.Administers the student insurance program.Administers facility usage for areas where interscholastic programs practice and play.Organizes, coordinates, and implements Summer Enrichment Program, K-12.Establishes and updates the Athletic Calendar.Helps keep the Assistant Superintendents, the Superintendent, and Board of Education informed concerning all major developments in the programs through regular reports.Provides organized and detailed program information as requested by the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents. Coordinates meetings, committees, and activities that might be necessary to produce an effective program.Completes all other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent and/or Assistant Superintendents.
