VACANCY: Band and Orchestra Teacher (Grades 3–5)LOCATION: William E. Cottle SchoolEFFECTIVE: September 2, 2025RESPONSIBILITY: Design and implement engaging band and string lessons for students in grades 3–5 with a focus on skill development, music literacy, ensemble playing, and performance.Provide individual and small group instrumental instruction, as well as full ensemble rehearsals.Prepare, coordinate, and conduct school concerts and performances throughout the year.Collaborate with music and classroom teachers (K-12) to ensure alignment with curriculum and school initiatives.Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, practice, and performance.Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling lessons, rehearsals, and performances to meet the needs of students and school activities.Communicate regularly and effectively with colleagues, administrators, and families regarding student progress and upcoming events.Promote student interest and participation in instrumental music throughout the school community.Demonstrates strong classroom management skills that foster a structured, inclusive, and engaging learning environment conducive to musical growth and collaboration.Collaborates effectively with special education staff and adapts instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students with IEPs and 504 plans, ensuring all learners can fully participate in the music program.QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in music education or related field (master’s degree preferred).Valid New York State Certification in Music (K–12).Demonstrated proficiency in band and string instruments, pedagogy, and conducting.Prior experience teaching elementary-level instrumental music preferred.Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administration.Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful learning environment.Flexibility and adaptability in scheduling and instructional delivery.Please forward the cover letter and resume: Jannet Porras, Personnel Clerk Office of Human Resources Tuckahoe Union Free School District 65 Siwanoy Boulevard, Eastchester, NY 10709 Or apply online at www.olasjobs.org.
