Cottle Elementary SchoolLiteracy Specialist (Grades K-5)Start Date: September 2, 2025Key Responsibilities: Provide direct, targeted literacy instruction to students in Grades K–5 in both push-in and pull-out settings.Serve as a critical member of the Instructional Support Team (IST), actively contributing to problem-solving, data analysis, and instructional planning to support student growth.Collaborate regularly with classroom teachers across all grade levels to design and implement differentiated literacy instruction aligned to students’ individual needs.Use data from universal screeners, diagnostic tools, and progress monitoring systems (e.g., DIBELS, i-Ready) to inform instruction and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.Support the implementation of the district’s literacy curriculum and provide instructional coaching grounded in the Science of Reading.Assist with the development and coordination of Tier I, II, and III literacy interventions within the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).Participate in IST, CSE, and RTI meetings, offering data-based input and literacy expertise to inform decisions and student support plans.Provide demonstration lessons, co-teaching opportunities, and ongoing professional development for staff in evidence-based reading and writing strategies.Maintain accurate records of student progress, interventions, and assessments in accordance with district expectations.Collaborate with special education and ENL staff to ensure inclusive, accessible, and effective literacy instruction for all learners.Qualifications: Valid New York State (or applicable state) certification in:General Education (Childhood Education 1–6 or Early Childhood B–2),Literacy (e.g., Literacy B–6 or Literacy K–12), andSpecial Education (e.g., Students with Disabilities 1–6).Strong knowledge of and experience with Science of Reading principles and structured literacy instruction.Familiarity with evidence-based practices for foundational reading, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.Demonstrated experience in delivering targeted literacy intervention to students with a wide range of learning needs.Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.Training in Fundations and Wilson Reading programs preferred.Experience working in inclusive classroom settings and a strong commitment to equitable literacy outcomes for all students.Please forward the cover letter and resume: Jannet Porras, Personnel Clerk Office of Human Resources Tuckahoe Union Free School District 65 Siwanoy Boulevard, Eastchester, NY 10709 Or apply online at www.olasjobs.org.
