We will be leaders in continuous innovation and equitable opportunities for all. The Trumansburg Central School High School is seeking a Dean of Students beginning July 1, 2024. This position will work with the building principal in carrying out the school's academic and behavioral programs. As a professional educator the Dean of Students understands and responds to the challenges presented by today's diverse student population. The Dean of Students provides proactive leadership to engage all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services to support the students' academic achievement, personal and social development. The Dean of Students works cooperatively with the principal, counselors, nurse, staff, students and parents towards a safe and positive school climate. Supervision: The Dean of Students works with a high level of independence and professional discretion under the general supervision of the principal. The work must be aligned with acceptable professional practice, school and district policies and regulations, NYS Educational Law, direction of the principal, and performance standards and expectations as set forth in the collective bargaining agreement. Major Skills and Responsibilities: Serves as a resource for building staff, administrators, and parents in working with students, creating a positive school climate, and helping students develop a positive self-concept. Skill in human relations which demonstrates sensitivity to the needs and concerns of others. Participates or leads development of positive behavior support systems and development of intervention strategies. Demonstrates the ability to work successfully and positively with all students to provide them with assistance in meeting their educational needs. Coordinates, facilitates and implements disciplinary intervention steps, working closely with staff members and the principal. Supports the vision of academic success and a positive culture/climate of TCSD as set out by the building principal. Attends and participates in various leadership team meetings and other building meetings as assigned. Must possess the ability to interpret student academic and attendance data accurately. Coordinates, facilitates and implements attendance intervention steps, including but not limited to holding parent/student/faculty conferences and making home visits. Maintains constant contact with students and their parents to discuss attendance and/or behavioral concerns. Serves on the building emergency preparedness team and leads implementation efforts. 5. Communicates clearly, concisely and effectively with all members of the school community. Student Intervention Leader:Create and monitor the TCSD Student Improvement and Restricted List for all students.Manage data/spreadsheets tracking students who need interventionFacilitate intervention activities such as students and/or parent conferencesCollect data every 6 weeks on target students (in need of multiple interventions or enhanced progress monitoring)Communicate with counseling and admin where needed for specific student concernsLog actions, parent communication, etcSEL Curriculum, Instruction & Support:Cooperate with the supervisor to organize and facilitate SEL training when applicable and curriculum planning. Assist in supporting SEL in all classrooms, working with teachers to ensure all students are receiving opportunities for growth not only academically but socially and emotionally as well. Salary:Placement on the Salary Schedule will be commensurate with the active Trumansburg Teachers’ Association Agreement.Licenses, Certificates & Special Requirements: Must possess a valid NYS Teaching Certificate Offering competitive and commensurate salary, increasing with graduate credits/degree and New York State teaching experience.
