This educator supports the integration of technology into the curriculum, promotes responsible digital citizenship, and builds foundational skills in keyboarding, coding, and digital problem-solving. The teacher fosters creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking through enrichment opportunities that inspire students to become confident and ethical users of technology.Key ResponsibilitiesTeach skills, knowledge, and attitudes aligned to the New York State Computer Science and Digital Fluency standards for grades K-6.Plan, implement, and evaluate lessons in areas including computer fundamentals, keyboarding, digital citizenship, online safety, networks and system design, coding, the impacts of computing, computational thinking, and digital literacy.Support students in gaining the skills required for computer-based assessments and instruction.Instruct students in the proper use, care, and safe handling of technology equipment.Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all students.Evaluate academic growth of students, prepare report cards, and keep appropriate records related to the technology room.Promote a positive learning environment that includes behavioral management techniques appropriate to the needs of all students.Collaborate with other school personnel, especially the Technology Integration Specialist, to ensure rigorous curriculum and alignment with core class technology work.Keep up to date with developments in the technology field through professional growth opportunities and staff development.Maintain the technology room by assuring the hardware, software, and operating systems are in order; manage records, materials, supplies, and equipment; report any malfunctioning equipment.Perform duties assigned by the principal.QualificationsValid New York State Teaching Certification in Educational Technology, Instructional Technology, or Elementary Education with strong technology integration experience.Demonstrated knowledge of digital tools, online learning platforms, and age-appropriate instructional software.Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.Commitment to fostering an inclusive, safe, and engaging digital learning environmentExpertise in the use of current and emerging educational technologyDemonstrated ability to integrate technology in authentic and meaningful waysAnalytical and critical thinking skillsGood knowledge of methods, materials, practices, and equipment used in computer labsAbility to establish positive relationships with teachers, staff, students, and to work effectively as a team member and take initiativeAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writingAdditional Benefits:Generous Paid Time OffOn-going Professional Development and Career OpportunitiesHealth Insurance options: medical, dental, and visionNYS Retirement Benefits
