W.L. Morse Elementary SchoolAcademic Intervention Teachers (2 positions) The successful candidate will identify and provide targeted and small group instruction to primary aged students. In addition, the AIS reading teacher will play a critical role in identifying academic gaps within classes, and across grade levels, and create targeted remediation plans for classroom teachers. The AIS reading teacher will utilize evidence-based literacy instruction, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension strategies to support a diverse range of students, including but not limited to students with different abilities and English language learners. The reading teacher will also serve as an important member of the building’s MTSS Team. The reading teacher should have skills or expertise in: Experience in specialized reading approaches, such as PAF, Orton-Gillingham and/or WilsonKnowledge of MTSS practices, processes and interventions Expertise in data collection, analysis and application to instruction Behavioral management techniques and approachesKnowledge of English Language Learners and their unique development in literacy acquisition in a new languageRequired NYS Certification(s): Early Childhood Education B-2 Appointment Type: Probationary Track Effective: September 1, 2025Salary: Salary and benefits per the TAT Contract—range for teachers based on experience and education.Must attend New Educators’ Meetings (August dates TBD), and Superintendent’s Conference Days, August 27th & 28th).Writing Sample: Please write about your teaching philosophy
