Supervisor Special Education(10-month position)JOB SUMMARY: The Supervisor of Special Education Secondary will coordinate special education programs, required meetings, record keeping, and staff management for middle and high school special education students and all out-of-district students.Some examples of the work include but are not limited to:Oversee and coordinate the instructional program's curriculum, materials, and evaluation for secondary special education students.Chair all out-of-district student meetings and coordinate with external programs.Oversee IEP development for secondary and out-of-district special education students.Meet with secondary clinical staff and special education teachers to plan, develop, and maintain the programs, serving as a resource for administrators and staff in planning and revising the curriculum.Plan, facilitate, and implement in-service workshops for staff development.Conducts required parent meetings.Assists in the hiring of Secondary Special Education Personnel.Supervisory Responsibilities: Work with the Supervisor of Special Education (Elementary) staff; instruct and train staff when necessary; conduct performance evaluations and observations.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Current New York State School Building Leader (SBL) certification; AND; Minimum of five years of successful and effective full-time secondary teaching or school-based special education instructional experience, OR A minimum of three (3) years of school-based or administrative and supervisory experience.Bilingual Spanish Speaking PreferredCompetitive Salary and Benefits Package as per the TAA contract will be expected to work additional days in July and August.
