The Elmsford Union Free School District Board of Education is seeking a proven, goal-oriented leader with central office experience, preferably in the role of Superintendent of Schools. Elmsford is a thriving community, rich in history and cultural diversity, located fifteen miles north of New York City in Westchester County. It comprises the Village of Elmsford and the unincorporated section of the Town of Greenburgh. Residents take advantage of the village’s Carol Nichols Park, Massaro Park in Greenburgh, the county’s North and South County Trailway bicycle paths, and many other recreational opportunities. From Elmsford it is easy to travel to nearby larger commercial centers, including White Plains, Yonkers, New York City, and southwestern Connecticut.The 1,054 students in the Elmsford Union Free School District are housed in three schools. The District prides itself on producing well-rounded individuals who are ready to take on the challenges of the 21st century. They pursue educational excellence in a caring environment - a goal shared by residents, teachers, and administrators. The staff, administration, and the Board of Education work in conjunction with each other to support educational opportunities for their students. Board of Education is seeking a proven, goal-oriented leader with central office experience, preferably in the role of superintendent.The successful candidate:Embraces diversity and the core belief of treating one another with mutual respect, dignity and honesty.Will demonstrate a proven record of accomplishments encompassing instructional leadership, financial stewardship, collective bargaining and community engagement.Must have the capacity to build trust and maintain confidence with the board, staff, and community.Shall be a data-driven, research-based innovator who sets high expectations for student performance and provides leadership in academics and extracurricular student experiences, as well as in developing lifelong learners.Will have the ability to serve as an open and transparent communicator who is clear and concise on all issues and will keep parents informed of the district’s direction and the implementation of its mission and shared vision.Will be eager to work with and develop the existing leadership team and be comfortable collaborating with the Board of Education to lead the district to new heights of success and student achievementWill be an engaged and visible community leader who instills confidence in students, staff and community.Will provide inspirational and ethical leadership and recruit and retain a strong and committed teaching staff and administrative team.Must understand the financial challenges of a small school district and work closely with the district’s business official to advance innovative ways to create and expand opportunities for studentsWill have experience addressing and implementing programs and practices that attract and retain quality staff.
