The candidate should possess some experience with solutions such as identity management, multifactor authentication, SIEM and endpoint detection and response solutions. The candidate will also be expected to work closely with a Managed SOC provider to collaborate and respond to potential security related events to take any necessary corrective action. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of the current principle, practices and procedures of an Information and Network Security program; thorough knowledge of servers, and related systems, network protocols, encryption techniques, firewalls, virtual private networks, database structures, wireless communications and access security techniques; thorough knowledge of the current principles, practices and procedures of information technology; knowledge of the NIST CSF; ability to coordinate the activities of subordinate personnel; ability to establish effective working relationships with peers and district representatives; proficient verbal and written communication skills. PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Works directly with a Managed SOC Provider to proactively monitor organization wide network infrastructure to identify suspicious activity and notifies the associated teams of any possible issues.Investigates and coordinates incidences of cybersecurity events and works with other teams to implement corrective action.Receives and assesses security related releases from varied security forums and with supervision to assesses the risk and possible impact to the organization and services. Configures and daily management of various security related platforms such as identity management, multifactor authentication, SIEM and endpoint detection and response solutions.Works with data privacy service to assist with the assessment of the NIST CSF and advancement of the organization’s maturity level related to this framework. Identification and evaluation of additional security related solutions that may benefit the organization.Assist with needs identification and the continued development and implementation of security related services that assist enhancing the overall security posture of the organization. Plans, supervises, and directs operations for the municipality’s or school district’s computer networks.Directs cabling, configuring, and installing computer hardware, computers and computer networks and software for network and standalone computers.Makes recommendations to administrators regarding policies and standards for the computer and computer networks.Arranges for the installation of administrative and instructional software on computer networks.Provides software support on computer networks.Analyzes district needs and makes recommendations for improvements and enhancements.Troubleshoots hardware and software conflicts and problems.Provides on-site coordination and support for subcontractors (e.g. would handle wiring for computer installation).Arranges for and coordinates all necessary maintenance services to all hardware and networks.Plans and implements required configuration changes to local area networks.Prepares proposals for purchasing new equipment for instructional purposes.Oversees the maintenance of an up-to-date database and insures timely delivery of service.Coordinates the scheduling of outside providers and network personnel.May grant and monitor computer access for various systems users. May monitor computer systems including firewall and anti-spam data security infrastructure. May attend workshops and seminars to maintain up-to-date knowledge of network operating systems. CIVIL SERVICE QUALIFICATIONS:MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and seven (7) years of work experience managing LAN and/or WAN networks.SUBSTITUTION #1: Satisfactory completion of 30 college credits may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required work experience.SUBSTITUTION #2: A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field may be substituted for an additional one (1) year of the work experience described on (a) above.NOTE: Current/active certification as either a Certified Novell Engineer (CNE); Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE); or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) may be substituted for six (6) months of the required experience.Priority given to candidates who are currently on a Civil Service List for this Title.Candidates must have taken or be eligible to take the civil service exam for this title.IN ADDITION TO APPLYING ON OLAS, TO COMPLETE THE APPLICATION PROCESS PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE AT :https://www.swboces.org/JoinOurTeam
