CURRENT LOCATION: Richard T. Stank Middle School DESCRIPTION: A New York State (NYS) Library Media Specialist is a certified educator and librarian responsible for managing the school library, fostering literacy, and integrating technology into the curriculum. They instruct students in research, media literacy, and digital citizenship while collaborating with teachers to support 21st-century learning. Key responsibilities include: Instruction & Literacy : Conducting classes on information literacy, research processes, and fostering a love of reading through activities like book talks and read-alouds. Curriculum Collaboration : Working with classroom teachers to align library resources with school curriculum and New York State standards. Library Management : Managing the school library center to be a safe, accessible, and inclusive environment, including managing print, digital, and media collections. Technology Integration : Instructing on the use of databases, e-books, and instructional technology while teaching digital citizenship, copyright, and fair use. Leadership : Taking a leadership role in implementing information-based technologies and facilitating partnerships within the school and community.
