POSTING DATE: March 12, 2026 POSITION: Chief Information Officer DESCRIPTION: The Chief Information Officer serves as a critical bridge between the district’s technical infrastructure and its instructional data ecosystem. This dual-capacity leadership role is responsible for the health, stability, and security of core server and network systems, while simultaneously overseeing the strategic management of the Student Information System (SIS) and state/federal reporting mandates. The successful candidate ensures that the district’s (networks/servers) are robust and that the student data is accurate, compliant, and actionable. Core Responsibilities I. CIO: Data Systems & State Compliance Student Information Management: Act as a resource for Student Management System (SMS) functions, including assisting with master scheduling and the management of parent/student portals. Provide high-level custom reporting for Building Principals and District leadership to drive informed decision-making. Direct the technical execution of the district testing program, managing the data lifecycle for Regents and state exams—from School Tool extraction to scanning and result distribution. State & Federal Reporting: Oversee the verification and validation of data within NYSSIS, NYSTART, and the State Data Warehouse. Ensure the end-to-end accuracy of all civil rights and accountability reporting to secure district funding. II. Assist Technology Director: Infrastructure & Network Engineering Systems Architecture: Lead the management of the VMware vSphere environment, including resource allocation, hardware health monitoring, and virtual machine lifecycle. Network Engineering & Security: Lead architect and manager of Ruckus Wireless and Wired networks, including switches, routers, VLANs, and WLAN, including enterprise security layers, including Cisco Umbrella (DNS) and DUO Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Identity & Directory Services: Administer Active Directory and Google Workspace Admin Console at the highest level (Domains, Trusts, GPOs) to ensure secure and seamless user environments across the district. Maintain the integrity of DHCP, DNS, and Print Server services to ensure district-wide connectivity and resource access. Tier 3 Technical Lead: Serve as the final escalation point for the most complex hardware/software failures, utilizing deep-packet inspection and advanced diagnostics to maintain 100% uptime for mission-critical systems. Maintenance, Security & Operations: Compliance & Patching: Manage automated deployment of OS and 3rd-party software updates to mitigate security vulnerabilities. Manages all Dell warranty claims and hardware support, ensuring maximum uptime for mission-critical hardware. Monitoring: Maintain network monitoring systems (e.g., LibreNMS) to provide real-time visibility into bandwidth utilization and device health. III. Other duties as assigned Key Qualifications Technical Proficiency: Deep experience with VMware, Ruckus/Cisco networking, Active Directory, and SQL-based data systems. Compliance Expertise: Proven track record with New York State data reporting (SIRS) and student privacy laws. Problem-Solving: Ability to move from high-level strategic planning to "boots on the ground" Tier 3 troubleshooting seamlessly. Communication: Ability to translate complex technical or data-driven concepts for non-technical administrators and stakeholders. QUALIFICATIONS: 2-4 years college education with at least two years of experience with specialization in the functions of student management systems. Excellent knowledge of state testing requirements and reporting; Student Management System (School Tool); SED Data Reporting System. Office methods and procedures and familiarity with the use of standard office equipment. Ability to carry out and understand complex and technical oral and written instructions.
