The Stockbridge Valley Central School District is looking for a K-12 School Guidance Counselor. Certification as a School Counselor is required.Duties and Responsibilities· Collaborate with and assist students, parents, teachers, administrators and community members.· Provide direct support service to individual students, small groups and classrooms.· Complete assessments, referrals and counseling with students and families.· Assist with scheduling and testing. Support students w/scheduling, development of academic goals, and appropriate course selection.· Completes reports as required by Federal, State and Local agencies.· Completes written reports as needed or requested by the Principal.· Serves as a member of committees as needed.· Help students with career awareness, exploration and planning by developing shadowing and mentoring experiences.· Provide problem solving, decision making and conflict resolution for students.· Provide substance abuse education and coping strategies.· Prepare students and families for college entrance process by facilitating all necessary paperwork. (ex FASFA forms)· Prepare all students to be college and career ready.· Present orientation programs for students.· Conducts home visits.· Facilitate and develop student and peer social groups that, foster positive social skills, as well as, transitions throughout grade levels.· Support school action steps through the use of relevant data, i.e. RTI, PBIS, IEP and 504 plans.· Is the DASA Coordinator.· Head of Crisis Management Team· Perform related duties as assigned.SummaryThe guidance counselor for Stockbridge Valley District will provide support services to students, staff and parents. Support services include referrals, counseling, assessment, diagnostics, and report writing.
