The Stamford Elementary Teacher understands and promotes the school’s mission, policies, and objectives. The elementary teacher is responsible for providing a classroom/instructional program that supports the individual needs of all children in accordance with New York State regulations and learning standards. The teacher creates and manages a responsive learning environment that enables students to feel safe, to be creative, and to develop their full potential. Establish, model, practice and reinforce age-appropriate rules and discipline using school approved procedures (student code of conduct). Implement classroom procedures, systems and routines that provide effective student learning outcomes. Communicate effectively and maintain strong working relationships with students, families, colleagues and administrators.Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide instructional planning which assumes responsibility for the academic progress of all students. Implement coherent, research-based, curriculum, instruction, and assessments. Teach students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs)/504 in an inclusive setting and implement IEPs as necessary. Use consistent research-based practices and a variety of individualized methods to engage all students in the classroom.Provide a variety of instructional delivery practices which engage each child, which includes technology and digital tools for instruction, planning, and communication to ensure student engagement.Measure student achievement and progress monitor to assist in meeting learning objectives; using both formative and summative assessment tools.Evaluate academic achievement through detailed data analysis of student performance on a wide variety of metrics.Provide ongoing and timely feedback to students and parents on progress towards meeting learning outcomes and goals.Complete all reports as required in a timely manner.Use student data to reflect on effectiveness of lessons and student achievement progress in order to improve instruction and personal practice.Develop and use a variety of assessment data to refine curricula and instructional practice.Organize and supervise approved field trips to enhance learning.Collaborate with faculty and staff providing programs in the arts, music, and physical education, etc. Complete other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned by the superintendent or principal.
