Acts in the capacity of occupational therapist providing assessments and occupational therapy treatments to students with autism in a variety of settings. To protect the safety of the individuals we support and staff, Springbrook requires new employees to be current on all recommended vaccinations, including but not limited to: COVID-19.Principle Duties and Responsibilities:• Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services to students in both educational and residential settings.• Assess, evaluate, and re-evaluate students, in keeping with educational goals and policies as indicated within each student’s IEP.• Develop, implement, and manage individual and group therapy goals in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, based on evaluation and assessment results.• Maintain and document therapy/intervention procedures and outcomes using the appropriate forms, records and reports for educational and attendance purposes, while following applicable regulations and departmental protocols.• Demonstrate appropriate interactions with students to enhance individual performance including implementation of behavior interventions and SCIP-R.• Coordinate services and provide recommendations as well as progress feedback to school personnel, interdisciplinary team members, community agencies, CSE representatives, and students’ families.• Provide in-service training and consultation to school staff, parents, residential staff and other professional personnel regarding adaptive equipment, positioning and other intervention techniques.• Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, students, interns and volunteers as required or assigned. • Utilize and manage appropriate assistive and adaptive devices to support individual student’s needs.• Inventory, store, monitor and maintain supplies and equipment; maintain an organized and clean therapeutic program space as well as office space.• Maintain current knowledge of treatment practice per discipline-specific practice requirements.• Integrate current professional knowledge and skill into therapy program.• Actively participate in professional growth activities, continuing education programs, and all student review meetings; attend appropriate departmental meetings as assigned.• Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge Requirements: • Bachelors’ Degree or greater in Occupational Therapy with current NYS license to practice Occupational Therapy.• NBCOT certification preferred• Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills. • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software and e-mail applications, especially Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. independently and assist in lifting weights exceeding 50 lbs.• Meet the requirements to drive Springbrook vehicles as required. • Be able to perform all physical interventions. • Swim in the Springbrook and community pools as necessary• Employ appropriate conflict resolution strategies during interactions with colleagues, participants, and students.
