Springs School Principal Vacancy Announcement ALL PREVIOUS APPLICANTS ARE STILL BEING CONSIDERED Springs UFSD is a one building Pre-K through 8th grade school district located on the East End of Long Island. The school is located in the hamlet of Springs, in the Town of East Hampton. There are approximately 700 students enrolled in Pre K-8. Once students graduate from 8th grade, Springs School pays tuition to East Hampton High School. Springs UFSD seeks a dynamic, collaborative and energetic individual who is committed to developing knowledge, skills, and practices to create a culturally responsive learning and working environment. Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of instruction and evaluation, technology, behavior management, data analysis and data-informed decision making. Their beliefs must support high expectations and ethics for all students and employees. NYS certification as a School Building Leader required. It is preferred that the successful candidate should have a minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience and three (3) or more years as an educational leader preferably in an elementary/middle school building. POSITION OBJECTIVE: To plan and implement the educational program through the application of leadership, supervisory, and management skills to ensure each student’s academic and social-emotional growth. RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead and support teachers and administrators in the development and implementation of an experiential, collaborative, innovative, and technology-rich approach to curriculum, instruction, and assessment Promote programming that values the learner as both an individual and a member of a global community through interdisciplinary themes, inquiry based learning, and real world application of content and skills Determine, plan and implement professional development, including course development (where applicable), assessments for learning, differentiated instruction, and equitable student access In collaboration with administrators, supervise and evaluate teachers on a regular basis in accordance with the District’s Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) Plan Supervise the budget, procurement and delivery of instructional supplies and equipment Be able to listen and empathize with staff, students and parents Monitor and evaluate the instructional programs Oversee safety/emergency procedures that ensure the well-being of all members of the school community Develop and coordinate an approach to student discipline/restorative practices consistent with the District Code of Conduct Collaborate with other administrators in the recruiting, hiring, training and placement of the school’s certified and classified personnel Communicate and engage frequently with parents and students Remain current in the profession through professional reading and other professional development activities Develop and maintain a program of community relations to encourage meaningful parent and community engagement with the school Supervise the maintenance of accurate records on student progress and attendance Prepare and submit the school’s budgetary requests and monitor expenditures of funds Coordinate procedures for student scheduling, orientation, transition and grading Inspire and nurture the personal and professional growth of each member of the school community Ensure adherence to all Board of Education policies and administrative procedures POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: NYS SAS/SDL/SBL/SDA Certification Minimum of five years teaching experience Minimum of three years of school administration experience Strong command of New York State Learning Standards Pre K - 8 grade Successful experience working with a diverse student population Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) Experience designing and implementing professional development opportunities Experience in teacher supervision and/or peer coaching Demonstrated knowledge of effective principles of teaching and learning and experience working with the Danielson Model Demonstrated knowledge of NYS Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Frameworks Ability to analyze data to improve instructional practice and student learning outcomes Capable of implementing rigorous instructional strategies that set high expectations for teachers and all children including students with disabilities and English Language Learners START DATE: JULY 1, 2023 CLOSING DATE: MARCH 14, 2023 SALARY: 12 month position, competitive salary commensurate with experience INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS: All applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, copy of certifications and three (3) professional letters of recommendation via OLAS by MARCH 14, 2023 to Debra Winter, Superintendent of Schools.
