Spencer-Van Etten is hiring 2 non-unit building substitutes, one for the middle school and one for the high school. Please see below for terms of employment: (1) Building Substitute assignments/need will be determined on an annual basis at the discretion of the Superintendent of Schools. (2) A building substitute position will be a temporary position that is appointed annually based on District need, with no guarantee of permanent employment. (3) A building substitute must possess a teaching certificate (New York State or out of state acceptable) and be fingerprinted. (4) Building Substitutes will report to work on days designated by District administration. The work year will not exceed that of a Spencer-Van Etten Teachers Association teacher. Work hours shall be a maximum of 5 hours, 50 minutes each day with planning periods and lunch unpaid/non-work time. (5) Building Substitutes are not part of the Spencer-Van Etten Teachers Association bargaining unit or other bargaining unit. (6) Building Substitutes shall receive daily compensation in the amount of $140.00 per day worked. (7) Building Substitutes shall receive two (2) paid sick leave days per semester (paid at the beginning of the semester assigned). Said leave days will not accrue and will not carry from one semester to another. (8) No additional benefits will be provided to Building Substitutes.
