NON-INSTRUCTIONAL POSITION AVAILABLEMAINTENANCE MECHANIC III-PLUMBERFACILITIES DEPARTMENTEFFECTIVE: IMMEDIATELYHOURS: Day ShiftDUTIES: Proficient in plumbing and skilled at identifying the types and quantities of materials needed for installing, maintaining, and repairing valves, faucets, sinks, traps, sewers, and all other plumbing systems. Knowledgeable in the proper use and maintenance of plumbing tools, materials, and equipment. Capable of supervising custodians and maintenance mechanics while assisting with assigned work orders. Responsible for maintaining plumbing systems, including threading pipes, checking for leaks, flushing boilers, and ensuring optimal functionality.Maintain a temperature-controlled water system.Employees are empowered to make independent judgments regarding daily activities, including labor, time, and material estimates.Work under the direction of either the Facilities Director or Mechanic IV. Able to follow instructions provided in written form, blueprints, or sketches.Actively participate in all phases of a project, from initial planning to implementation and completion. Knowledgeable about relevant regulations and codes, with the ability to interpret building specifications, blueprints, or sketches.QUALIFICATIONS:One (1) year of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic II or four (4) years’ operations and maintenance of plumbing and plumbing systems. NYS plumbers license preferred.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:Depending on the nature of the assignment, at this time of appointment and during employment in the title, candidates may be required to possess a valid New York State’s driver’slicense appropriate for the vehicle to be operated.SALARY: $81,636
