NON-INSTRUCTIONAL POSITION AVAILABLEMAINTENANCE MECHANIC IIIFACILITIES DEPARTMENTEFFECTIVE: IMMEDIATELYHOURS: Nigh Shift (May be required to work day shift during summer, school break periods, and emergencies)REQUIRED: HVAC (Plumbing a plus)DUTIES:HVAC Plumbing and Mechanical Repair and RenovationsTo perform skilled work maintaining air condition, heating and refrigeration systems, as well as appliances through the district.Proficiency in piping, brazing, soldering, controls, wiring, and full knowledge of the numerous characteristics of today’s refrigerants is mandatory. Periodically inspects all steam and HVAC equipment; directs and/or participates in repair of this equipmentThorough knowledge of high pressure steam boilers and generators.Techniques and terminology used in the repair, adjustment and inspection of machinery and equipment utilized in high pressure steam, heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. Regulates steam pressures and oil temperatures, inspects and adjusts temperature controls and other control devices. Operates and maintains steam/hot water heat exchangers, steam absorption cold generators, water circulation systems, temperature control valves, cooling and heating coils, ventilation equipment and associated systems. Cuts and threads pipe, solder joints, maintain piping systems, check for leaks, flushes out boilers and performs other maintenance of plumbing systems.QUALIFICATIONS: Either:One (1) year of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic IIFour (4) years’ operations and maintenance of high-pressure steam vessels and heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:Depending on the nature of the assignment, at this time of appointment and during employment in the title, candidates may be required to possess a valid New York State’s driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle to be operated.
