ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT FOR CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION DISTRICT WIDE (7-12)EFFECTIVE - JANUARY 2024MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: New York State SDA or SDL certification.SALARY: Tenure Track Appointment; NegotiatedDUTIES:Assist the Superintendent in directing the administration and coordination of District educational programsWork collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education to ensure the alignment of curriculum K-12Articulate the District’s instructional programs with other school districts and educational agenciesReports on the status of District programs and services at the request of the SuperintendentKeeps abreast of developments in curriculum and instruction, and furnishes leadership in determining their appropriateness for inclusion in the District’s educational programAssumes a leadership role in developing curriculum for any course newly mandated by the State education department or the Board of EducationMaintains liaison and active participation with educational leaders in curriculum and instruction at State, regional and national levelsServe as a leader of curriculum studies and workshopsCoordinate all curricula matters including innovations, revisions, research, Grades 7-12Supervise curricula committees and workshopsSupervise, through appropriate administrators, supervisors and coordinators, District programs as directed by the SuperintendentAssist in the recruitment, screening, hiring, training and assigning of instructional personnelEvaluate and review the performance of instructional chairs, coordinators, administrators, supervisors, and principalsObserve the performance of teachers, and confers and consults with them regarding professional developmentSupervise the preparation of Federal and State reports and Grant proposalsPrepare and administer instructional budgetCommunicate the approved curriculum to the professional staff and maintain a list of approved instructional materialsStudy and evaluate, and as appropriate, recommends adoption of new instructional materials, methods and programs
