The mission of SOCSD is to elevate, engage and inspire through personalized and exceptional educational experiences to ensure that all students achieve their fullest potential.Department of Human ResourcesJuly 10, 2024 VACANCY 2024 – 2025Posting #45Position Available: On or about August 10, 2024 ANTICIPATED ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL – SOUTH ORANGETOWN MIDDLE SCHOOL (Probationary or Interim) A designated Essential Elements Schools to Watch and an Association of Middle Level Education (AMLE) School of Distinction seeks a collaborative and experienced leader to assist the Principal in utilizing leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills while providing an exceptional and personalized education program for all students.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES include and are not limited to:Assume responsibility for the administration of the school in the absence of the PrincipalAssist in implementing district policies, rules and regulations; in collaboration with the student support and services person, assume responsibility for reviewing referrals of student behavior and respond according to Code of ConductAssist in the supervision of instruction; supervise routines and policies, conduct classroom visitations, perform observations and evaluationsArrange and supervise teacher administrative assignments and develop the master scheduleWork with curriculum leaders and teachers in the design and implementation of curriculum for assigned content areasEstablish procedures for proper supervision at all school sponsored events including attending evening eventsPlan and administer the NYS Assessments, Regents Exams Program and make-upsSupervise the cafeteria programCoordinate and supervise the release time and after-school program which includes clubs, intramural sports and office hoursCoordinate student activities, fundraising, field trips and programsServe as a member of the Child Student Team and School Support TeamPlan, coordinate, supervise assembly programs and special programsAttend Team, Faculty/Departmental, BLC, MTSS, SLT as well as Curriculum & Team Leaders meetingsAttend special events (e.g., Meet the Teacher Night, PTA Meetings and Orientation programs)Assist and support the Principal in any other areas as assigned by the PrincipalApplicants must possess (or be eligible for) valid NYS certification.
