Significant experience as both a secondary educator and school leader are preferred. The ideal candidate will possess a coherent approach to developing and leading a collective vision and mission that supports all students and staff to reach their fullest potential. The candidate must have experience with creating, designing, and implementing innovative scheduling with a coherent approach to helping develop student college and career pathways.The Tappan Zee High School Principal will provide leadership that fosters the advancement of student engagement and achievement in a welcoming, safe and nurturing environment. Responsibilities include overseeing the educational program, leading the observations and evaluations of staff, developing the master schedule, further enhancing students’ social and emotional learning, and ensuring the health and safety of all students. Responsibilities also include and are not limited to: Enhancing student experiences at Tappan Zee High School through the development of a collective and comprehensive educational plan. Supporting staff through meaningful professional development opportunities. Building and nurturing positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community organizations. Collaborating with curriculum, grade, team, and subject leaders while evaluating and enhancing course offerings and instruction. Developing college and career pathways in collaboration with Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction, and school counselors. Providing ongoing support for Tappan Zee High School’s clubs and enrichment offerings. Support the District’s budget development through making personnel, curriculum, financial, and facility recommendations and decisions. Work alongside building representatives while continuing to maintain harmonious relationships as well as a positive building climate and culture. Supervise the assistant principals to ensure that they are providing the necessary support for students, staff, and parents. Oversee disciplinary procedures in alignment with the district and school Code of Conduct. Any other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of SchoolsApplicants must possess (or be eligible for) valid NYS certification as a School Administrator/Supervisor and/or as a School Building Leader.
