Position Available: On or about July 1, 2023 ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT FOR CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION An innovative and high-performing school district seeks a team-oriented leader to serve as its Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction. The ideal candidate must be a student-centered, collaborative, and innovative leader with significant experience as both an educator and school leader with a demonstrated record of enhancing learning while utilizing data to inform instruction. The ideal candidate will also possess outstanding listening and communication skills and be prepared to lead a collective vision and mission for teaching and learning alongside a dedicated administrative team, faculty, staff, and community. The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction reports to the Superintendent of Schools. Responsibilities include leading the development, organization, implementation, and evaluation of the district’s instructional program as well as designing and implementing professional learning opportunities for teachers, administrators, and staff. Additional responsibilities include:-Aligning curriculum (both vertically and horizontally) to New York State Learning Standards. -Serving with Cabinet members while providing input on all aspects of the SOCSD educational program. -Assisting the Superintendent to supervise and evaluate the Director of Athletics, Health & Physical Education, Director of Data, Accountability & Assessment, Director of Technology, School Leaders, Instructional Coaches, and Team Leaders. -Overseeing and supporting Instructional Coaches for Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Technology, including planning content leadership team meetings K-12. -Overseeing and supporting English Language Learners and ESOL teachers. -Articulating high school, college and career pathways. -Supporting elementary and secondary scheduling. -Managing Statewide Pre-K Grants while providing support for Universal and Full-Day Pre-K Programs-Preparing and applying for Title I, II, III, and IV grants, annually.-Complying with all state and federal audits and requirements associated with grants. -Collaborating with administrators, staff, and the Board of Education to develop the annual budget. -Other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.Applicants must possess (or be eligible for) valid NYS certification as a School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL).
