About the Role Director of Pupil Personnel Services – Somers Central School District The Somers Central School District is seeking a collaborative, student-centered leader to serve as the next Director of Pupil Personnel Services (PPS). This is a critical district leadership role responsible for overseeing special education, early childhood programs, nursing services, and student support initiatives to ensure that all learners, particularly those with diverse needs, receive high-quality, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate services. The Director leads inclusive practice initiatives; ensures full compliance with IDEA and NYSED regulations; collaborates closely with instructional, counseling, and building leaders to strengthen MTSS systems; partners with families and community organizations; manages budgets and external service contracts; and drives data-informed program improvements across all schools. The ideal candidate is an experienced instructional leader who values inclusion, family engagement, and cross-departmental collaboration. The Director of PPS will guide a dedicated team of educators and support staff, foster strong community partnerships, and ensure that district programs are equitable, innovative, and aligned with state and federal expectations. Qualifications NYS School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA) certification required. Administrative experience in special education or pupil personnel. Demonstrated leadership experience, highly effective communication skills, and a commitment to whole-child development.
