Director of ENL, Dual Language, & World LanguagesAnticipated-Probationary About the District:The Southampton Union Free School District is a Pre-K through 12th-grade district with approximately 1,300-1,400 students across three schools: Southampton Elementary School, Southampton Intermediate School, and Southampton High School. Located in the picturesque Town of Southampton, roughly 100 miles east of New York City, the district serves a diverse student population and is deeply embedded in its community. Notably, our district is situated in close proximity to the Shinnecock Nation, an Indigenous sovereign nation whose historical and ongoing contributions enrich the cultural landscape of our region. The district is committed to providing a rigorous, comprehensive academic program in a personal and caring environment, fostering lifelong learning and preparing students for success in a dynamic global society. Roles & Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with CR Part 154-2 regulations in collaboration with building principals Develop and manage the district-wide budget for ENL and Bilingual programs based on student needs Oversee enrollment, testing, and placement of new ELL/MLL students, including coordination of NYSITELL and NYSESLAT testing? Support curriculum development, language allocation, and instructional strategies for ENL, Bilingual, and World Language programs district-wideCollaborate with principals and instructional coaches to assess and improve instructional practices in English and Spanish? Observe, supervise, and evaluate teachers using the District APPR Plan, offering guidance in curriculum development aligned with the Next Generation Learning Standards Collect and analyze data to prepare state-mandated reports and support continuous program improvement-CR Part 154 Comprehensive ELL Education Plan (CEEP) on an annual basisPlan and lead monthly ENL and Bilingual department meetings Coordinate and oversee the district-wide Bilingual After-School Academy for ELLsOversee the after-school mentoring programSupervise the district-wide interpreter/translatorChair Language Proficiency Team meetingParticipate in Instructional Support Team meetings to enhance interventions for struggling students? Committee Membership: Active member of MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports), Code of Conduct, Shared Decision-Making Team, SCEP/DCIP and APPR (Annual Professional Performance Review) committees Lead ENL and bilingual educators in improving academic achievement, department culture, and community engagement Collaborate with administrators, program directors, and staff to write and secure grants while managing Title III and MBK budgets to ensure compliance with grant requirements Assist to organize and develop the MBK Community Summit and implement the MBK Community Action PlanRecruit, hire, and coordinate consultants to design and deliver professional learning sessions on best instructional practices for emergent bilingual studentOversee the Registration Department and Registrar, ensuring efficient enrollment processes, accurate student records management, and compliance with district and state regulationsLead the District’s Culturally Responsive InitiativeLead curriculum development sessions for the World Language department and ENL/Bilingual departmentAttend BOCES The Long Island Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network (LI RBERN)Assist with events connected to Culturally Responsive EducationPlan, coordinate and lead the ISA ProgramSupport the implementation of Shinnecock Curriculum and other diverse curriculum initiatives
