Music Teacher – Probationary (Anticipated)Description:Southampton Union Free School District is seeking a highly-qualified, enthusiastic individual to serve as its choral and general music teacher at our elementary school for grades K-4. The successful candidate will be musically talented, proficient at accompanying students on the piano, have excellent people skills, be self-motivated, and demonstrate the ability to deliver lessons to support the curriculum goals. The teacher will develop in each student an appreciation of the art of music, as part of general culture. He/she will teach techniques of vocal music expression. The teacher will discover and develop students' talents in the field of music. In addition, the teacher will develop students' knowledge and skills in listening to and reading musicThe teacher will collaborate with other teachers to plan student performances throughout the year. Additionally, the teacher will incorporate music from various cultures into music instruction and performances Responsibilities:Develop and implement curricula aligned to NY State standards in music.Plan daily academic lessons and implement specific strategies to teach students the fundamental principles of music and musicianship skills, such as basic music theory and basic notation.Be accountable for students' academic growth and achievement, while creatinga positive, achievement-oriented learning environment.Reflect on successes and areas of growth as a teacher,seek to improve performance, and respond to feedback.Participate in collaborative district and school wide curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions.Communicate regularly with parents regarding their children's academic success in music. Hold day and evening performances as per the school schedule.
