JOB DESCRIPTION/TITLE: Director of Health, Physical Education and Interscholastic AthleticsThe district seeks a highly motivated individual with the ability to lead and be responsible for the overall supervision and effectiveness of the Health Education, Physical Educations and Interscholastic Athletics Programs districtwide. The Director reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools.Responsibilities:Provide districtwide leadership for the development and evaluation of the K-12 physical and health education programs in conjunction with State guidelines and District prioritiesProvide districtwide leadership for the interscholastic athletic programDevelop departmental objectives and benchmarks with the goal of graduating all studentsCoordinate and implement professional development activities for all district health and physical education teachers during and after the regular school dayAnalyze student achievement data and prepare reports for building and district administrationSupervise and evaluate K-12 physical education and health teachers districtwideConduct department meetingsCoordinate with building principals the implementation and evaluation of K-12 physical education and health instructionSupervise and collaborate with secondary schools’ in the coordination of the districtwide interscholastic athletic programOversee the district intramurals programRepresent the District on matters of athletics with respect to out-of-district agency affiliations on the local and regional levels including but not limited to New York State, NYSED and Section XIWorks with instructional staff to determine supplies and equipment needed to support the instructional and athletic program including the coordination and ordering of those itemsPrepare program forward budget that addresses both current and long range needsCultivate and maintain positive relations with college athletic representativesInterview and recommend prospective coaches and educators for employment in the SCCSDAttend after-school meetings and activities when neededWork with and be available for parents, students and coaches as neededOther duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his designee Requisites:Candidates must demonstrate leadership ability and a willingness to devote time beyond the regular school day in the performance of responsibilitiesAppropriate Teaching Certification in Physical EducationValid NYS Administrative CertificationAdministrative Experience PreferredGeneral: Salary and benefits for this position will be in accordance with the contract with South Country Administrator’s Association SCAA Application: Apply no later than May 31, 2024 @ www.olasjobs.orgInclude: Letter, Resume and CertificationCover letter addressed to: Mr. Jason Huntsman, Assistant Superintendent to Human Resources To learn more about our school district, visit our website at www.southcountry.orgClose
