South Country Central School District is seeking a Prevention Specialist for the Drug Free Community Grant. This Drug Free Communities grant position is for employment with the COMPASS Unity coalition, the coalition that represents the South Country community with the goal of preventing underage drinking and illicit drug use, particularly among youth. The Prevention Specialist will take a key leadership role with the coalition. Ideal candidates will have exception communication and interpersonal skills, verbally and in written word to also include public speaking. In addition, candidates must possess proficient computer skills and strong technology skills, including social media knowledge. Candidates must be willing to travel around the South Country community and in the region as needed to achieve coalition goals. Candidate must be willing to travel overnight on occasion. Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours to include evening and weekend events. This position will require ongoing training and conference attendance in order to perform job duties effectively. The Prevention Specialist will report directly to the COMPASS Unity Project Coordinator.CERTIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in education, social work or related field. CASAC certification and Prevention Specialist training a plus.OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Experience in drug abuse prevention, coalition work or community activism.
