Date: May 12, 2026 Posting #: CP3016 ANNOUNCEMENT OF ANTICIPATED VACANCY: PROBATIONARY SCHOOL COUNSELOR The successful candidate will champion student success by monitoring and recording academic progress, identifying needs, and making appropriate referrals for academic, social, and mental health support. The school counselor will be instrumental in assisting students with academic planning and course scheduling, while also serving as a dedicated case manager for students on Homebound Instruction. They will collaborate closely with staff and administration to ensure programs align with school and district goals and will actively contribute to Instructional Support Team (IST) meetings. Responsibilities also include creating and delivering elementary guidance lessons across multiple buildings, facilitating workshops for students and parents, and maintaining open communication to build a supportive bridge between home and school. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: New York State certification as a School Counselor. Applicants must be appropriately certified prior to the start of employment. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with Student and Information Management Systems (e.g. Power School) preferred. Experience with student scheduling. Experience with Google Suite. Bilingual candidate preferred, not required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
