SMITHTOWN CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT OFFICE OF CERTIFIED PERSONNEL Date: April 24, 2026 Posting #: CP3012 ANNOUNCEMENT OF ANTICIPATED VACANCY: PROBATIONARY SOCIAL WORKER HIGH SCHOOL The successful candidate will be a school building Social Worker who is responsible for providing mandated counseling to students according to their IEP or 504 plans, as well as offering social and emotional support counseling to any student in need. Key duties include participating in weekly Instructional Support Team (IST) meetings, preparing Social History Reports for the Special Education Department, and completing other assignments as directed by supervising administrators. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: New York State certification as a School Social Worker. Applicants must be appropriately certified prior to the start of employment. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in a secondary school setting working with “At Risk” and “School Refusal” students. Experience working with outside agencies and organizations. Involvement in appropriate state and national organizations. Demonstrated ability to effectively work and collaborate within a team environment. Bilingual communication skills preferred.
