Accountable for providing leadership, coordination and innovation in the areas of art and music.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:NYS Certification as a School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL)NYS Teaching certification in Art and/or Music.Knowledgeable in the area of current trends and practices in both music and art education.Demonstrated experience providing a complete fine arts program at all academic levels.Experience with staff supervision and knowledge of APPR regulations.A child-centered philosophy, with proven ability as a rigorous academic leader, innovative planner and effective communicator.Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills.Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all members of various departments.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:Two or more years of successful administrative experience.Experience in central office position and/or building level administrative position.Experience providing departmental training and curriculum workshops.Ability to develop teacher schedules at the elementary and secondary levels.Ability to screen and select candidates for teaching positions as necessary.Participation in educational program improvement work within the last four years.Involvement in appropriate state and national organizations.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervision of the K-12 fine arts program.Provide professional development for teachers of art and music education.Assist with the administration and supervision of instructional programs and activities with building administrators including observations, staffing, curriculum planning, etc.Other activities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and AssessmentTITLE: Director of Fine ArtsSALARY RANGE: $133,292-$184,695EFFECTIVE: July 1, 2024APPLICATION DEADLINE: January 29, 2024Applications for the above position are to be made by submitting a letter of application including the posting number addressed to: Neil D.
