A Long Term Leave Replacement vacancy exists in the area of secondary literacy. Responsibilities include: working with students with a wide range of reading levels, developing individualized instructional support based on student need, collaborating with English Language Arts and Special Education teachers assessing student growth and providing regular feedback to students, parents, guidance counselors, etc.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:New York State certification in Literacy 5-12.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:Prior experience working in a secondary school setting.Comprehensive understanding of the K-12 ELA Next Generation Standards.Prior experience implementing inquiry-based, student centered learning.Demonstrated ability utilizing instructional technology in classroom instruction including experience working with Google Classroom and other Google platforms.Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Bilingual communication skills.TITLE: Long Term Leave Replacement Reading TeacherSALARY: Long Term Substitute Rate and/or as per STA ContractLOCATION: Smithtown High School WestEFFECTIVE: 9/1/2022APPLY BY: 6/23/2022Applications for the above positions are to be made by submitting a cover letter including the posting number, two professional references and a resume on OLAS addressed to Neil D.
