K-12 Special Education Instructional CoachTeacher on Special AssignmentFull-time district position Qualifications Required:NYS Special Education certification and two years of experience as a public school instructional coach Compensation & BenefitsSTA Collective Bargaining Agreement Preferred Experience: Preferred candidates will have experience in both self-contained special education settings and as a consultant teacher, demonstrating a broad range of expertise in supporting diverse learning needs and collaborating with faculty and staff. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of effective instructional strategies for special education in all areas of the continuum of services. Previous success in coaching or mentoring teachers is preferred, demonstrating the ability to foster professional growth and collaborative relationships. Additionally, the candidate should have a proven track record of promoting inclusive practices and a commitment to equity in education. Strong communication skills, cultural competence, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment are key attributes for this role. General Responsibilities: The Special Education Instructional Coach will work under the supervision of the Director of Special Education, Director of Professional Learning, and in conjunction with the Academic Administrators for Special Education. The coach will provide direct assistance to teachers in how to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Over the course of the school year, the instructional coach may:support teachers and administrators in planning, delivering and assessing quality instruction for SWDsplan, model and co-teach effective lessons with teachersvisit classrooms per request to support teachers with classroom management, aide managements, unique students and classroom managementanalyze assessment data to identify areas for improvement, establish goals, and monitor progressparticipate in the development an implementation of curriculum specific to students with disabilitiesdevelop and conduct professional learning opportunities for teachers and administrators regarding instructional strategies and best practices for SWDsplan and facilitate professional development on best instructional practices for special class reading, sharing innovative strategies and fostering a collaborative environment among teaching staff to enhance student learning outcomesobtain certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and provide comprehensive training to other staff members on TCI principles and techniques to ensure a safe and supportive environment for studentstrain and support teacher aides, providing guidance, instruction, and feedback to ensure effective classroom support and a cohesive learning environment for SWDsall other duties as assigned Location:Districtwide Application Deadline: June 30, 2024 Effective: September 1, 2024 (with some summer days required) Please reach out to Michelle Mylod, Vicki Wyld, Dr. Cecily-Wilson Turner or your building principal with further inquiries about this position.
